So you want to stream the video from your dreambox to your pc!

Dreambox receivers can provide a video stream ,which can be received by various PC software plugins and other set top client devices via ethernet connection.

Before setting up though - you have to decide what do you want to do.
1. Stream the Dreambox Picture to only your pc or stb?
or
2. Stream the video to a plethera of freinds on LAN broadband. (Multicasting)

What is the difference??

( P2P STREAM )
A Point 2 Point stream is the ideal setup if you want full control over the dreambox from a remote location and dont intend to share the live stream,it could be thru LAN to another room in the house or Broadband to your desk PC at work. You will have exclusive control with the ability to change channels, pause the stream, record and more
Recomended Applications :
Full Control - DreamTV, DreamboxTV
Stream only - VLC, VLC DM7k Client, Bitstream Plugin,

( MULTICAST STREAM)
Multicasting gives you the ability to be a digital TV station and relay a live satellite channel to multiple clients simultaneously. The client can be a PC, Dreambox or even an modified Xbox

The Dreambox's netwrok streaming feature allows it to be open for use in commercial streaming applications. By simply setting up a Streaming Server Application such as (VLS) to handle the TS from the Dreambox on port 31339. The streaming application should then convert the TS to a more bandwidth freindly format like MPEG1/2 or DivX and prepare it for serving to your clients.
Your clients can watch your feed on any type of multimedia device that has an ethernet port and has an application to play a streaming video file..

Common Commands
# To find the channel info type http://ip_of_dreambox/cgi-bin/streaminfo into your broswer
#To stream a channel type dreambox_ip:31339/PAT,PMT,VPID,APID into the MMS or HTTP feild of your streaming application
